PRESS RELEASE
ATLANTA – (Oct. 5, 2021) – Pond, one of the fastest growing A/E firms in the country, has been awarded a $2 billion pool contract by the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) to improve infrastructure at airfields around the world. The AE Next Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for Architect-Engineer (AE) Services will be completed over a 10-year period.
“With a deep bench of architects and engineers with in-depth understanding of the Air Force mission, Pond is proud to continue its tradition of providing outstanding design services to Air Force clients worldwide,” said Bob Ruch, Pond’s Executive Vice President of Defense.
“AE Next is a useful, easy-to-use contract vehicle that provides our Air Force installations access to top-tier planning and design support worldwide,” said Gary Dorman, Pond’s Air Force Client Account Manager. “The contract uses decentralized ordering procedures, meaning local Contracting Squadron processes are used, allowing them complete control of the process. I think they will welcome the ease of use and local ownership allowed under the AE Next construct.”
Airfield Infrastructure includes any work associated with airfield pavements, including runways, overruns, helipads, taxiways, aprons, landing zones, communications infrastructure, storm water systems, visual air navigation facilities, security fencing and access control, airfield lighting, aircraft arresting systems, and ancillary facilities such as airfield lighting vaults, equipment shelters, and petroleum fueling hydrants, piping and associated facilities.
“Award of the AE Next Pool 1 contract is a huge win for our team,” said Chris Farnie, Program Manager. “We’ve designed nearly every type of facility and supporting infrastructure found on an Air Force installation, and that broad depth of experience gives our team an edge in understanding the Air Force mission and efficiently meeting installation needs.”
Pond has a 55-year history of providing engineering and planning solutions to the Air Force and Department of Defense. The company has provided services in 50 states, six territories, and 154 countries.
