Pond Expands Process Hazard Analysis Services to Include SIS Design and Probabilistic Failure Calculations

ATLANTA – (March 18, 2025) – Pond & Company (“Pond”), an industry leader in engineering, architecture, planning, and construction management services, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) services to include Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design and probabilistic failure calculations.
This expansion enhances Pond’s ability to provide comprehensive safety solutions to clients operating in complex industries, including chemical processing, oil and gas, manufacturing, medical sterilization, and energy. Integrating SIS design and probabilistic failure calculations into PHA/HAZOP services will enable Pond to help clients mitigate risks, comply with global safety standards, and improve operational reliability.
Leading this initiative is John Summerlin, PE, CAP, Pond’s Director of Electrical Engineering for the Industrial Market. Summerlin recently earned the Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) certification, a globally recognized credential that demonstrates expertise in functional safety. Achieving CFSP certification requires extensive knowledge of functional safety principles and confirms an individual’s ability to address complex safety challenges in industrial processes.
