Brady Pocket Park
As an integral component of the Renew Atlanta Program, Pond played a pivotal role by providing comprehensive design and engineering services for the revitalization of 2.25 miles of Howell Mill Road, stretching from Collier Road to Marietta Street, transforming it into a vibrant complete street.
The project encompassed the implementation of on-street and elevated separated bike lanes, strategically placed Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon (RRFB) mid-block crossings, as well as enhancements to sidewalks and intersections to improve pedestrian accessibility. Seamless coordination with adjacent projects and integration with existing bike/ped facilities were essential elements.
Within the corridor, two designated areas were earmarked for the creation of enhanced urban plaza spaces within the City's right-of-way. Through collaboration with the Upper Westside CID and neighboring property owners, Pond formulated plans to craft distinctive and captivating public spaces.
Pond's multidisciplinary team, comprising transportation and traffic engineers, urban designers, and landscape architects, collaborated synergistically to enhance the entire spectrum of transportation modes within the corridor. The transformation of Howell Mill Road's character was remarkable from project inception to completion, with our team tailoring unique approaches for each distinct section.
