Pond Master planned the 13.5 miles of trail from MLKHS to the Monastery and designed and engineered 8.7 of the 13.5 miles, which were divided into eight different phases of work. Three of the eight phases were funded via Transportation Enhancement (TE) grants and required the GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP) processes.
The trail crosses the South River twice via a 200-foot clear-span bridge entering Panola Mountain State Park and again with a multi-span 525-foot-long bridge near the end of the trail.
The South River Trail System stretches from southeast Atlanta to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Rockdale County, largely following the South River through DeKalb County and Panola Mountain State Park. Pond worked with the PATH Foundation, DeKalb and Rockdale Counties, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to plan and design the various phases of the trail.
