Greenfield Medical Device Sterilization Facility
A global leader in medical manufacturing sought Pond’s expertise to plan, design, procure, and manage the construction of a 200,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical device sterilization facility.
The project’s scope was to provide a fully operational commercial ethylene oxide sterilization facility and packaging facility. The process lines store, condition, sterilize and aerate medical device products and protective gear. Our services included all aspects of conceptual planning, throughput verification, equipment procurement specifications, detailed design, cost estimating, schedule management, and construction management services.
Utilizing our proven single-source approach to design and construction, the client relied on Pond’s integrated team of professionals to deliver a detailed capacity analysis report, basis of design, preliminary engineering, detailed design, and construction documents. A complete set of isometric piping plans facilitated faster more cost-effective construction and material procurement and installation. The 3D model with embedded data was used by the trades for extensive coordination that allowed for faster off-site assemblies as well as a precoordinated field installation. Utilizing our preconstruction and construction management services provides complete turnkey services for the client.
The greenfield project includes drum storage, dispensing and an ethylene oxide dispensing system. The fully detailed instrument & controls drawings and specifications were used to install all controls and interfaces. These facilitate complete monitoring and control of the plant’s features and operations. It applies state-of-the-art emission collection and destruction technologies with scrubber and catalytic oxidizer combination units along with low-concentration chemical reactant dry bed filter systems.
