DARTS Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan Update
Dougherty Area Regional Transportation Study (DARTS) tasked Pond to prepare a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the Albany Region, which includes Dougherty County and the southern portion of Lee County.

This plan was initially prepared in 2011 and was updated by Pond in 2022. The plan establishes goals and objectives for safe and efficient bicycle and pedestrian travel and a list of prioritized pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects. The plan identifies bicycle and pedestrian needs and recommends improvements to cover the 20-year time frame of the DARTS Long Range Transportation Plan.

The plan development process included coordination with regional stakeholders, City and MPO staff, and the public. Recommendations include applying several new concepts in pedestrian and bicycle planning, including sharrow markings, Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB), road diets, and informational signage geared towards biking and walking.
