JACKSONVILLE, FL – (June 9, 2021) – Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center has achieved LEED Gold Certification.
Pond, our joint venture partner Michael Baker, multiple subconsultants, and construction manager Balfour Beatty, are proud to have developed this landmark project for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). We started out to create a project that would solve JTA’s need for consolidated space including a new headquarters administration building and that would have a positive and transformative presence in the LaVilla area of downtown for JTA, and we succeeded. We designed both the adjacent Intercity Bus Terminal (IBT) and the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla (JRTC) as phase 1 and phase 2 of the overall development that brings local buses and intercity buses, the Skyway elevated light rail system, pedestrians, and cars into a single multi-modal complex across the street from Jacksonville’s former grand railroad station, now the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center, and near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 10. The JRTC has been awarded LEED Gold award for its high levels of sustainability and coupled with the previously awarded LEED Silver rating for the IBT, we created a complex that achieves all of the objectives of JTA.
