Quick Start - Electric Vehicle Training Facility - Pooler Expansion
Pond is designing a new 15,000-square-foot expansion for the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (AMTC), including additional laboratories, a high bay space, and extra classrooms. This expansion project involves constructing a standalone facility adjacent to the existing Quick Start Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (QSAMTC).
Operated by Georgia Quick Start, the new facility is anticipated to span approximately 15,000 – 20,000 square feet, offering similar training functionality to the existing center, such as classrooms, technical labs, high-bay space, administrative and meeting areas, and a loading dock.
To expedite completion by August 2024, the expansion will be delivered via a construction manager at-risk delivery method, with its conceptual design and programming modeled on the established QSAMTC. While documents from the original QSAMTC project will guide much of the schematic design and engineering, unique requirements may emerge as client companies using the new expansion are identified. Site selection will require new geotechnical data, and additional parking capacity may be needed.
Construction will likely involve steel-frame structures, although mass-timber options will be explored. The design will align with the existing QSAMTC, integrating security, IT/data, and utility systems. With an estimated project cost of $7.6 million, construction is set to commence before the end of 2023.
