This exciting project establishes a totally new entertainment district on an unused 17-acre parcel of land adjacent to South Lake Mall in Morrow, Georgia. The City acquired 100+ year old farm houses, including one that was the boyhood residence of a former state Governor, and relocated them to the site. They will be renovated and used for restaurants, bars, shops and other retail spaces. The grounds include a central fountain, landscaping and entertainment areas, and possibly two hotels. A replica of the original Tara house from the novel, “Gone with the Wind”, will occupy one corner and will house a bed-and-breakfast inn. The site will be available nightly after the mall closes and will be a venue for weddings and other special events. Other unique features of the site include mixed use office-condominium units, a fully functional stage, several gazebo seating areas, lighting and a full music system.
There will also be no parking at the site. Parking will be available from the mall directly across Jester Creek. A period specific entrance way will welcome visitors and guests. The servicing of the various establishments will occur using a novel distribution center. This part retail shop/part warehouse will serve as the transfer point for all goods used on site. Trucks will off-load their goods in the covered warehouse, where they will be transferred to non-polluting and quiet golf-type carts for final distribution to the various restaurants and businesses.
