ATLANTA, GA (01.23.2012) – Pond & Company (POND), a privately held architecture, engineering, planning and construction management company, headquartered in Norcross, GA, has acquired Simmons Environmental Consulting (SEC), Tampa, FL. SEC’s Founder and President, Tonya Simmons, PE, will join Pond as Client Manager, opening their Tampa, FL office.
The addition of SEC to POND brings a strong resume of water resources and utility management projects, as well as new capabilities that are important to POND’s continued growth in the municipal water market and providing enhanced water infrastructure solutions.

Simmons is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a BS in Civil Engineering and West Virginia University with a Masters in Civil Engineering. She is a registered Professional Engineer with more than 15 years of environmental engineering, water resources and utility management consulting experience. Simmons currently serves as the Chair of the Water Quality and Resources Division of the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA) and previously served as the Vice Chair of the Water Use Efficiency Division of FSAWWA. One of her notable accomplishments was the development of Florida’s Comprehensive Water Conservation Program including the development of best management practices and performance metrics, as well as design and deployment of the nation’s first web-based water conservation planning and tracking tool. Simmons has directed progressive water supply programs for clients including aquifer storage and recovery, reclaimed water, brackish groundwater supply, desalination and water conservation; and, has assisted clients in obtaining funding and financing to provide solutions to their aging water infrastructure challenges. She is a contributor to trade publications, and is a recognized industry leader in water conservation and drought management strategies.
