Electrical Engineer

Pond & Company is currently in need of an Electrical Engineer to join our award-winning team located in our Virginia Beach office. The Electrical Engineer shall be responsible for producing construction plans, specifications, and other technical drawings in an efficient and timely manner. The construction plans and specifications shall include power, lighting, fire alarm and communications as well as special systems (security, television, audio/visual, PA, etc.). Experience with UPS, generator, grounding and lightning protection systems is preferred. The job duties include, but are not limited to, research, field survey, and data collection as well as performing the calculations (photometrics, short circuit, loads, etc.) necessary to assemble a complete permit package.

Requirements

The skills required for the position are engineering (CAD design) and business applications with a PC: Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD. Demonstrated proficiency with REVIT is a plus. The applicant must be detail oriented with good time management skills to meet time-induced deadlines as well as be able to resolve engineering anomalies.

The position requires a licensed Professional Engineer.  Multiple state licenses are a plus but not required. A minimum 5 years of progressive electrical design experience is required. The position requires the collection of data pertinent to each project for design and permitting, including but not limited to public records, past project files, field measurements, and internet sites. The applicant must prepare complete construction plans and specifications based on the appropriate design standards, project and client requirements, and all applicable codes (NEC, IBC, etc.).Must have electrical and fire alarm design experience with commercial, government and industrial facilities. RCDD is a plus. Experience with State, educational and DOD projects is desirable.
